Scranton Prep Celebrates The Ninth Joseph of Arimathea Mass

Scranton Prep Celebrates The Ninth Joseph of Arimathea Mass

For the ninth year, our community gathered to celebrate the Joseph of Arimathea Mass, a ceremony dedicated to honoring and laying to rest the unclaimed remains of those who have passed away.

Each year, the Mass ensures that individuals who have no one to claim them are prayed for and laid to rest with respect and dignity. Through this ceremony and other services dedicated to unclaimed remains, Scranton Prep has overseen the burial of 192 individuals since the tradition's inception in 2016.

We are especially grateful to Lackawanna County Coroner Tim Rowland for his continued partnership and support in making this beautiful ceremony possible.
