Sophomore Grace Hamill Wins Forensics Tournament

Sophomore Grace Hamill Wins Forensics Tournament

On Saturday, sophomore Grace Hamill represented Scranton Prep’s Speech and Debate club in the Forensics Tournament hosted at Dallas High School. The tournament hosted nine competing teams, which consisted of 50 total student participants.

Grace participated in the Dramatic Performance category, competing against three other students and earning first place. The category requires students to present a memorized selection from a published screenplay or fictional/non-fictional literature. The performances are limited to ten minutes and are either serious or humorous in nature.

Grace’s performance, titled “Guns and Gubernatorial Elections,” addressed the serious topic of gun violence in the United States. Her preparation and delivery shone through in her presentation, resulting in a first-place win.

We are incredibly proud of Grace for her outstanding performance and for representing Scranton Prep at the competition, and we look forward to seeing her future performances with the Speech and Debate team!
