Students and Faculty Serve in Los Angeles Over Spring Break

Over Spring Break, a group of students and faculty gave their time to service.

Traveling to Los Angeles for a meaningful service trip, they visited Homeboy Industries Youth Re-entry Center, Adult Center, and Art Academy, as well as The Alexandria House, Guadalupe Homeless Project, The Midnight Mission, and Dolores Mission Church. The experience was particularly special as Father Greg Boyle (founder of Homeboy Industries) spoke at Scranton Prep earlier this year to discuss his book, Tattoos on the Heart: The Power of Boundless Compassion, which was also assigned as summer reading.

While on their trip, students prepared meals for those in need, connected with trainees and students at Homeboy, participated in classes, and assisted with donations at the Dolores Mission. Through these moments, they witnessed firsthand the impact of community and second chances.
