Physical Education
Physical Education is an essential part of the total education program. It is designed to promote health and a sense of well-being in youth. It is the optimum development of the physically, mentally and socially integrated and adjusted individual, through guided instruction and participation in selected total-body sports and activities conducted according to social, hygienic and safety standards.
It is hoped, with this philosophy in mind, that good health can be achieved through a variety of skills and activities that contribute to cardio-respiratory fitness, endurance, flexibility, agility, balance, muscular strength, speed, power and coordination. This course is taught in conjunction with efficient, graceful, useful movement skills at all levels of development.
Healthy Living
This course is designed as a self-paced course. Students work independently through a series of course modules. Successful completion of all modules and correlating assessments indicates student competency.
Though this course is designed to allow individual students to work at their own pace, that doesn’t mean they are completely alone. Technical support is always available through AVLI. In addition, Arrupe Virtual will send regular reports to host schools, students, and parents to help them monitor student progress.
The course consists of 4 learning modules:
- The Sanctity of the Human Body
- Understanding Health Risks
- Choices
- Where, When, Who, and How
