The Leo J. and Gabriella A. Slivinski Scholarship
Dedication
Leo and Gabriella both served in the United States Army during World War II, Leo as combat infantry, who received two purple heart decorations, Gabriella as a nurse serving the wounded.
Neither Leo nor Gabriella had the opportunity to complete a University course of study, although they both had talents to be nurtured and developed by formal education. Leo had an aptitude for mathematics and music. Gabriella was dedicated to patient care and skilled in assisting medical staff.

The Scholarship Recipient Qualifications
The student who receives this scholarship will be the son or daughter of parents who never attended or graduated from a College or University. This scholarship is primarily intended to provide an educational foundation for a student who will be the first in the family to achieve a University degree.
The student will also demonstrate a strong aptitude and basic analytical skills in the areas of mathematics and the physical and computer sciences, and a commitment to pursue a career working productively in these methods of inquiry.
Scholarship Application
Eligibility
Students must meet the basic scholarship requirements in order to apply for this opportunity. The student must be first generation college bound in their family, maintain strong grades, and demonstrate a distinct aptitude for Mathematics, Science, and/or Computer Science.
Application
Complete application and essay no later than January 19, 2026. Provide specific details about your academic and extracurricular work in the areas of Mathematics, Science and/or Computer Science. Also, your interests in pursuing this work in college and beyond.
Supplemental Materials
Provide two teacher recommendation letters specific to this scholarship by the application deadline. Letter should support your acheivements and work in the areas of Mathematics, Science and/or Computer Science. Specific information and examples that support your candidacy should be included to be considered.
Student most recent transcripts and standardized test scores should be provided by the application deadline.
