Prep Athletics Club

No fewer than six (6) and no more than 10 nominees will be selected for an induction class. Special attention will be paid to the composition and balance within each class. - Considerations of class balance may include, but not be limited to, factors such as sport diversity, race, sex, color, religion, sexual orientation, national origin or ancestry, age, marital status, handicap, height, weight, or military status. * There shall be no more than two (2) posthumous inductees in an induction class. * The maximum number of inductees per-category is: - Athlete: 4 - Coach: 2 - Team: 2 - ESA: 2

1 – Director of Alumni
1 – Coordinator of Sports Alumni Relations (CoSAR)
1 – Vice President/Director of Advancement
3 - Faculty coaches; should have at least five years of service as a coach at Prep, male and female balance is preferred. AD and CoSar to select.
2 – Faculty Emeritus – retired members of the Scranton Prep faculty
Term limits are indefinite until a committee member opts out.
 

The CoSAR will maintain a document containing detailed information about each nominee, which will be shared with the Selection Committee at least one (1) week prior to the first induction meeting. Nominations should be diligently reviewed and considered prior to the first meeting.

There will be two (2) preliminary selection meetings in which the Selection Committee will discuss proposed nominees, narrowing down preliminary lists into a group of finalists which will be voted upon in a third and final meeting. * For the preliminary meetings, each Committee member should select a minimum of three (3) and a maximum of six (6) nominees for each category.

From there, the committee will shape the list for the final vote based upon agreement of mutual recommendations and then considerations of those who did not receive unanimous or majority support.

In the preliminary meetings, Committee members may submit in absentia nominations to the CoSAR should they be unable to attend the meeting either in person or via teleconference.

All Selection Committee members must be present, either in-person or via teleconference, for the final selection meeting. * For the final meeting, each Committee member should submit ONLY their final votes, rather than a pool of nominees from which to choose. * To be elected to the Hall of Fame, a nominee must receive at least six (6) votes.

The Committee should choose an alternate inductee for each category in the event of a potential inductee declining induction.
 

Inductees will be notified by telephone by the Coordinator of Alumni Sports Relations in the month of December following the final selection meeting. * Should a potential inductee be unable to attend the Induction Ceremony for good cause, they will forfeit their current selection but will remain in consideration for the following cycle. If a potential inductee is ill or circumstances will prevent him or her from attending for the foreseeable future, a surrogate relative or friend may accept the honor on his or her behalf. Unique scenarios should be reviewed by the Selection Committee on a case-by-case basis after the initial selection. * A website announcement unveiling the new induction class will be posted during the winter season.

Any person affiliated with Scranton Prep (as outlined in the Nominations section) may propose an amendment to the Hall of Fame bylaws for deliberation by the Selection Committee and a vote.

Proposed amendments must receive a minimum of six (6) affirmative votes to proceed to the final stage, which is approval from the School’s Senior Leadership Team.

Approved amendments must be communicated through an announcement on the school website and in the next edition of the Alumni newsletter.
