The Great Ignatian Challenge
Where Prep Comes Together
Every fall, the Great Ignatian Challenge turns Prep into a hub of energy, generosity, and community spirit. It’s more than a food drive; it’s the largest student-led drive in NEPA, and every member of the Prep Family helps.
From freshmen to seniors, faculty to alumni, the school rallies to support neighbors in need. Now in our fifth year, Prep students have donated over 550,000 pounds of food to food assistance programs across Northeastern Pennsylvania.
Created by Fordham Prep alumnus Jim Rowen, the Challenge now unites 20+ Jesuit and private high schools nationwide.
Making it our mission to serve.
As one of the first student leaders of the Great Ignatian Challenge, rallying support for those in need was an incredibly rewarding experience. Learning how to bring a community together for a greater cause has remained a crucial part of my identity. Seeing how the GIC at Prep has grown over the last four years has been both impressive and inspiring, and I hope it continues to change lives for years to come.

At Prep, service isn’t just meaningful. It’s fun!
It’s service that feels like celebration: classmates cheering each other on, families joining the cause, and the whole Prep community pulling together. Along the way, students live the Jesuit mission of becoming men and women for others, discovering that when we work side by side, we can change lives starting right here at home.
Serving, learning and helping where we're needed most.
