Each year this Challenge has grown in participation and this year is no different. There are 15 participating schools this year from the USA East Province. With 15 participating schools, Jim Rowen, the generous supporting donor, and Fordham Prep alumnus, has agreed to support the collective efforts with a donation of $450,000 which will be awarded. The fifteen schools will compete for tiered awards based on criteria identified by Mr. Rowen, including the most amount of food collected per student. Mr. Rowen has generously donated more than $1,100,000 towards the Great Ignatian Challenge competitions over the last six years. His desire is to open this competition up to even more schools next year.
We will have weekly challenges during the next six weeks in school and we will collect donations online through our YouGiveGoods Great Ignatian Challenge page. YouGiveGoods will deliver the donations directly to the organizations.
This friendly but spirited competition is intended to strengthen each school’s Thanksgiving food drive, further raising awareness of hunger un our communities while filing local food banks and pantries with tens of thousands of pounds of much-needed food.
