The Great Ignatian Challenge Winners are back with this year’s Thanksgiving Food Drive
Join us Friday, October 28th for Pep Rally to rally our students as we prepare for our biggest challenge, the Great Ignatian Challenge!
Created by Fordham Prep alumnus, Jim Rowen, this food drive Challenge highlights the collective service power and generosity among 18 participating Jesuit high schools around the country. Since 2016, the number of participating schools has grown and over 937,000 pounds of food has been collected and distributed across local area food banks, community centers, and aid organizations. The goal of this Great Ignatian Challenge is to shine a light on the food insecurity that so many of our NEPA neighbors face. More than 800 million people live every day with hunger or food insecurity as their constant companions. With your help, we can change that here in northeastern Pennsylvania
This year, Scranton Prep will join the Challenge with our “Fill the Field” event. For the next four weeks, we will be attempting to raise 105 pounds of food per student. We’ll do this online, through our alumni, families, friends, students…and through you! On November 18, 2022, Scranton Prep’s students, teachers, administrators, and staff will attempt to “Fill the Field”, Loyola Field, with our non-perishable food contributions, filling trucks that will make their way to our various regional partners –NEPA Youth Shelter, Friends of the Poor, St. Francis Food Pantry, Ronald McDonald House, Bread Basket, United Neighborhood Centers, Seven Loaves Food Kitchen, Boys and Girls Club of Scranton, and the list goes on.
WE WON IT LAST YEAR AND CAN DO IT AGAIN WITH YOUR HELP!
Last year we won the challenge-raising over 100 pounds of food per student. That’s more than 75,000 pounds of food. The real winners, however, were the people of Northeastern Pennsylvania. 37 TONS of food raised and distributed in NEPA thanks to you. Though our students are raising much of the food themselves, we need your help to make this a success again this year. To make a contribution, reach out to us at Scranton Prep- advancement@scrantonprep.org or 570-941-7743. Or click our link https://yougivegoods.com/scrantonprep-2022.
Check out our Instagram @thegreatignatianchallenge to follow our progress throughout the month of November. 100% of the monetary donations made to the food drive will be used to shop for food items requested by our partner charities. All food and money raised will directly benefit Northeastern Pennsylvania residents and charity partners.
Thank you for your help!
